Michigan Tech Takes Second At GLI

Michigan Tech may not have won the GLI (Great Lakes Invitational) tournament since 1980, but they sure gave the other longstanding attendees a run for their rankings. MTU beat #5 MSU 4-1. Was this a fluke? It only took to the second night to determine that in the championship game against #1 ranked Michigan. It was a hard fought game which was sent into overtime and then double overtime with 0-0 ties. It wasn't until about 3-1/2 minutes into the second overtime that Michigan stepped up and made the winning shot. You gotta love rooting for the underdog which is definitely an understatement in this instant. Being a long time Michigan fan myself, but on hiatus for the day, I made comments about feeling better about MTU's loss than Michigan's win. How can it take two overtime periods to score on a little school in da U.P. when you are ranked #1 in the nation? I look for a fall for the maize and blue as well as the the green and white of MSU...
