Need for Celebration Isn't What It Used To Be…

We are feeling the beginnings of what life will be like after birth having just celebrated our one year wedding anniversary on February 25, 2007. With mom’s feeling of spunkiness being replaced with feelings of dizziness, nausea and fatigue, there was little debate about whether or not to plan a big event for the day. Joking about going to McDonald’s and using a coupon for buying one Big Mac and getting one free became serious and turned into discussion of how bad would it look if we really did do that. After all, they have fries that mom enjoys eating during her ‘bouts of sicknesses. Fortunately, we will not be sharing that dismal story without our child as it did not come to fruition. However, the idea of having a good burger was now the talk of the moment. Mr. Joe’s in Southfield was the place to head for… Upon arrival at Mr. Joe’s and crossing the snow covered parking lot, we came upon a handyman replacing the front door. When asked if they were open (like we didn’t already know), he noted that they were not open on Sundays. After taking a moment to let the disappointment subside and realizing that we just drove 12 miles (important for later) through the winter elements for naught, a new list of “opportunities” were discussed. Keeping with the burger theme, Fuddruckers was mentioned. An instantaneous “OOooooohhhh, Fuddruckers!!” resonated through the Durango. Without a word, we were off to the new location which is only 1-1/2 miles from home. So, we drove 24 miles to go 3… But hey! We were able to eat a good burger and satisfy some cravings… After having an early afternoon lunch, it was the couch for the rest of the day while watching the Auto Club 500 in Fontana, CA. It was all that mom could do to be interested in opening, cutting and eating the ceremonial wedding cake. We are happy to say that there was no reason for disappointment in the cake. The cake was wrapped quite nicely which resulted in a moist and delightfully tasty dessert.
